James 1:19-20

angry

“Dear friends, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God’s sight”

Anger is a sign of present hurt, it’s an emotion that we all experienced and will continue to experience in life. There are times when we can’t control our feelings & emotions, however we CAN control how we respond.

Bitterness is a sign of past hurt, it is a negative response to anger. Bitterness has a way of paralyzing you, prohibiting you from moving forward. It can become a death sentence, slowly killing you & everything around you. Has your life been controlled by bitterness?

If bitterness goes unchecked it can birth resentment, going deep into our hearts, infecting our lives & relationships. Let’s take back the control of our hearts!

Ephesians 4:31-32

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you”

This is not easy to admit about ourselves. Perhaps we are unaware of the grips that bitterness has on us. In this case, “what you don’t know” CAN hurt you! Are you dealing with unchecked bitterness?

Signs of bitterness:

  • Always angry
  • Constantly criticizing
  • Constant negative talk
  • Hold grudges
  • Jealous
  • Always feeling mistreated
Sadly, people die in this condition, but you don’t have to!

There is freedom on the other side, but are you willing to let it go of the pride? Take back control of your mind, your heart, your life! Begin with forgiveness, forgive yourself and others. Remember Jesus forgave you so that you may forgive others! (Colossians 3:13)

Get free! Change your mind, change your life!
